Neither Could Dylan

Right now you can only hear From A Bedroom Above A Garage right here on neithercoulddylan.ca because when I began recording it I realized that it was important to me that you get your first listen to a lot of these songs through me directly and in a way that best represents them.

On the web-player, you do have to actively select and play each track individual, not unlike the conscious choice you make to turn over your vinyl record to Side B. I feel like this part of the magic of connecting with music is one that has been a little lost with the advent of digital streaming and it’s my hope that if you’re able to take the time to sit with this record, you’ll appreciate the songs and their stories a little more wholly by giving them your complete attention. As I write this I suppose that sounds a little pretentious, particularly as a very small fish indie artist from Canada, but given the subjects that often inspire these stories I think they are deserving of it – as I believe all creative works are.

FaBAaG is really the first of a lot of new songs that will be featured on my website before they eventually trickle their way out everywhere else, but it’s not the first exclusive release.

Over time there will be some releases that you can only get through this website directly, including merch and physical copies of the records, and I really mean that – those won’t end up on these other platforms.

It’s one of the benefits of being an entirely independent operation and one that I think a lot of us are too easy to give up in the pursuit of fame or fortune. Here, we can dive into these releases in a more personal way, or at least that’s my hope going forward.

That all said, I’m really quite proud of From A Bedroom Above A Garage and I’m excited to announce its global streaming release which will happen on Wednesday August 9th, 2023.

This is a digital only release at this time with no immediate plans for any physical edition.
